Why Waivers
Accidents can happen in any physical activity, even when everyone is careful. Waivers help protect you and the studio by showing students were informed about the risks and agreed not to sue for most types of injuries.
But even the best waiver can't prevent all lawsuits—or cover claims a waiver doesn't apply to. That's why dance instructor insurance is essential: it covers legal fees and payouts if something does go wrong, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to focus on teaching without worrying about the 'what ifs.'
Using both—a clear waiver and proper insurance—is standard best practice in Canada and makes you a responsible, professional instructor.
